In 1978, Kenny Evans established Ag Tech Company. In an effort to reduce farmer dependence on agricultural chemicals, Mr. Evans pioneered the land application of municipal biosolids to fragile southwest desert soils. In 1997, Ag Tech Company changed hands, going from the Evans’ family-owned operation to Ag Tech LLC with the addition of Leroy and James Donley. Presently, Ag Tech LLC’s majority owner and General Manager is James Donley, and Kenny Evans serves as a minority owner and consultant. We currently transport biosolids from municipalities in the Southwest United States and continue to be both a subsurface injection land applicator and alfalfa farming operation.
Ag Tech owns between 10,000 and 11,000 acres divided into 47 plots. Biosolids are spread on eight square miles of company-owned land, which uses them as fertilizer for irrigated feed crops, such as barley, wheat, and alfalfa, as well as some cotton. Most of these crops are eventually exported to Japan for resale.
